2015 SXSW Artist Tracker

2015 SXSW Artist Tracker

By March 13, 2015

On March 17th music will transform into one big monster rearing its head and heart onto the streets of Austin for SXSW. Yup, it’s that time of year when music lovers from all over, gather and experience the energy and power of discovering the newness of sounds. With so much talent it can be an arduous task to keep up. So, in UHH tradition, we have curated a list of our must watch artists of 2015 that we think are worth a listen. Scroll down and enjoy….

Solana Rowe aka SZA is a singer songwriter that has been intriguing us since the first listen. She released her debut album “A” in September of 2014, which includes tracks with Kendrick Lamar and Chance the Rapper. If you haven’t yet, take a listen.

These beautiful French/Cuban twin sisters of Ibeyi are really causing quite a buzz. Featured as one of the artists that we are currently swooning over (Witchcraft Wednesday), they bring magic to each track and will surely bring it to the stage at SXSW.

Norwegian beauty, Jenny Hval, will be playing SXSW for the first time and touring with St. Vincent in the coming months. Her newest album, Apocalypse, girl, will be released this June on Sacred Bones. This album is already looking like a winner in our eyes.

Ryan Lott who goes by the stage name Son Lux, is a solo act who resides in NYC. His ethereal sound creates a perfect vibe to zone out too.

Bryan James Sledge aka BJ the Chicago Kid has been killing it behind the scenes for a minute. From collaborating with rap genius’ Schoolboy Q on “Studio” and making guest appearances on the Freddie Gibbs Madlib album last year, we think he’s going to be getting some much more love in the limelight this year.

Jillian Hervey and Lucas Goodman make up the the duo known as Lion Babe. Their R&B/Soul sound has the groove that keeps you moving.

Canadian fuzz-pop band Alvvays is like a warm summer day, sunny and delightful. Take a listen and catch some rays.

Coming straight from the L.B.C., rapper Vince Staples graced us with his debut album, Hell Can Wait, in October of last year. We have a very strong, happy feeling you’ll be hearing A LOT more of him…

Seattle residents Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight make up the electronic duo Odesza. Their music is fun and will easily make you dance. Need we say more?

We first discovered Kelela about a year ago when saint records dropped their compilation album ‘Saint Heron’. We obviously liked what we heard and we weren’t the only ones. Bjork has publicly declared she is a fan, so yea there’s that.

These Aussies have been on rotation for us for quite sometime but we feel they’ll be getting much deserved attention this coming year. With the release of their (really awesome) newest album Range Anxiety, we think it safe to say they will be well received at SXSW.
