Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar

By February 10, 2015

It’s been almost two years since Kendrick Lamar, conquered our hearts and the rap game with the release of good kid, m.A.A.d city. We were able to get a taste of him with the release of “i” back in September, and been anxiously awaiting his follow-up.

Kendrick has a gift of writing verses that not only make you dance but hit you in this poetic and powerful way. He has the ability to represent the streets and the current conscious game all while keeping himself open minded to the other genres of life.

Kendrick’s latest track, “The Blacker the Berry”, dropped yesterday and speaks directly to the cultural frustration going on right now in America. Racially charged lyrics flying out his mouth like daggers to a bulls eye, that eye then begins to be the one in question as the song progresses. These times are sad, we all know it and feel it and Lamar uses this charge to create a very powerful track. Coming out from under his Grammy win a couple of days ago he seems to be ready to use his voice for those who can’t and make tracks that are worth a listen.
